While many people have found themselves struggling to stay healthy amid the COVID pandemic, singer Ciara has made it her mission over the past year to transform both her body and her relationship with food. Ciara, who welcomed her third child in July 2020, has managed to achieve a 29-pound weight loss over the last year without depriving herself, and she’s not done yet.

For Ciara, becoming an ambassador for WW (formerly Weight Watchers) was the catalyst for her impressive weight loss, and the plan has taught her how to embrace moderation.
“I used to be an extremist when it came to losing weight. WW gave me a creative way to build a healthier lifestyle,” she explained on the WW website.
In a Jan. 2021 interview with InStyle, Ciara noted, “I think the discovery that you can enjoy all the good food that’s out there is always kind of eye-opening and enlightening for people because typically you think you have to do these extreme plans, where you’re basically only eating grass or you’re not eating much besides celery and carrots, you know?”

While cheat meals are very much still on the table for the star, she’s also making an effort to reinvent her favorite foods using healthier ingredients.
In a March 21 post to her Instagram Stories, Ciara proudly showed off a plate of tacos, boasting that the recipe came out to just 7 WW Points. Ciara had praised the Points system in the past, telling InStyle, “I’m competitive, so I get satisfaction and enjoyment from the point system. It’s just convenient and I believe it can help set you up for long-term success for your health and wellness.” And for more celebrities who’ve slimmed down, 90 Day Fiancé’s Angela Deem Reveals How She Lost 90 Pounds.
Ciara says she’s not depriving herself of any of the foods she loves, admitting in a Feb. 2021 WW interview with Oprah that she “ate a few more desserts than [she] should have” on a recent vacation. In her day-to-day life, however, she’s gotten more diligent about monitoring her portion sizes.
“You start to kind of train yourself or condition yourself to know you don’t need as much as you thought you needed. You gradually cut back,” she explained in her WW interview.
While Ciara credits her trainer for helping her tone up, it’s not just pricey private workout sessions that have helped her get fit. She’s also made exercise a family endeavor, posting photos of herself and her kids skiing, swimming, and dancing together to her Instagram.
“It’s a blessing to wake up and have my beautiful babies and my family. And so I think because of that, I just always find ways to find joy and be encouraged and to feel motivated,” she explained to InStyle.
