Plant-Based Matcha Mint Smoothie | Eat This Not That



The color of this plant-based matcha smoothie speaks volumes about its health benefits—you need this vibrant green color in your diet! Matcha is an ingredient you may recognize as a recent addition at coffee shop menus. It is a finely powdered, specially selected green tea originating from Japan. By pairing it with honey and mint, this smoothie is a great way for beginners to add matcha to your morning.

While standard clover or wildflower honey is used in this smoothie, you can find honey with specialty flavors and get creative. In fact, there are over 300 unique types of honey available in the US, each from a different floral source (avocado honey, anyone?).

Makes 1 smoothie


1 frozen banana, broken into chunks
1/2 cup packed baby spinach
2 tsp wildflower honey
1 bunch fresh mint leaves
1 tsp matcha powder
1 tsp wheatgrass powder
1/2 cup ice cubes
3/4 cup water

How to Make It

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Blend on low, then finish on high for 1 to 2 minutes, until smooth.
